Mike Orgill to lead Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan

Airbnb’s mission is to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere and we are focused on building an end-to-end travel platform that will handle every part of your trip. With a growth of more than 9 million guest arrivals to Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan in the past year, Airbnb announced the appointment of Mike Orgill as General Manager of Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

In his role, Mike will be responsible for building long-term growth in some of Airbnb’s fastest growing markets. Mike brings a wealth of experience in his previous role as the Director of Public Policy for Asia Pacific at Airbnb. He successfully built and led a team of policy professionals across the region and delivered on the company’s efforts to build Airbnb into a 21st Century company that serves all stakeholders, including government and community leaders.

Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan represent some of the world’s most popular travel destinations, and will play a massive role as we aim to welcome one billion users on to the platform by 2028. I can’t wait to build on my five years at Airbnb and help grow our community of guests and hosts in the years ahead.

Before that, Mike led Google’s public policy efforts for emerging markets in Asia. He was previously at the US-ASEAN Business Council in Washington D.C.

Mike will start his new role immediately and report to Siew Kum Hong, Airbnb’s APAC Regional Director. Mike will continue to support Airbnb’s public policy efforts in the interim until a new APAC Director of Public Policy is appointed.

We are thrilled that Mike will be taking on this new challenge to lead our efforts in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mike for five years and know firsthand that there is no one better to drive our strategy and long-term growth in the region.
