Top Travel Regret of 2018: Not Taking a Beach Vacation

As winter storms continue to hit the U.S., there are not many better ways to warm up from the bitter cold than to plan a sun-filled getaway. Especially when booking now means you can avoid vacay FOMO later, like the nearly two in three Americans who reported regretting not taking a beach vacation in 2018, according to a survey commissioned by Airbnb*.

When asked what the biggest barriers are for taking a beach vacation, those surveyed said financial constraints and limited vacation days top the list. And as nearly half of respondents said they are most likely to book vacations in the summer, by the time people get around to booking a trip, PTO days may be even more limited. The takeaway? Book your beach escape now and commit to traveling through Airbnb to a new, budget-friendly destination like the Caribbean, which a whopping 71 percent of respondents say they have never visited before.

Here are a sampling of homes in the Caribbean all under $100 per night, before applicable taxes and fees. And for those who are interested in offsetting the costs of your trip, earn money as an Airbnb host while you reapply sunscreen and sip piña coladas beachside.

*Airbnb commissioned a survey of 2,000 individuals across the US ages 18 and over via Pollfish in December 2018 to better understand travel sentiment and plans for the upcoming season.
